Rose Drop

Happy Valentines Day.

Valentines day is a day of indulgence, whether in a good breakfast, dinner or each other. And since I had spoken and made insinuations portraying to food, I though this would be a good opportunity to make a drink, celebrating this day and Love.... I call it a... 'Rose Drop'.

It's easy delicious take on a vodka lemon drop cocktail and it looks damn good. My SO loves it (and even though it is somewhat 'Girly' looking... so do I).

Rose Drop, is yes you guest it, a take on Lemon Drop, using Vodka as the base for this cocktail. So go ahead, surprise your partner or another significant person in your life, or just treat yourself... Let's do this!

You need

  • 2oz. Vodka. Go with the brand you like best

  • 1oz. Triple sec. Same thing, go with a familiar brand

  • 1oz. Lemon Juice (fresh squeezed)

  • 1oz Simple Syrup (see recipe below)

  • 2 Tbsp *Sumac powder

  • 1 Tbsp pure cane Sugar

  • 1-2 Lemon wedges

  • Coup glass

  • Shaker

  • Ice cube

  • Mixing glass (or you can use the shaker)

  • Strainer

  • *Rose water

  • Rose petals

Notes:

  1. Rose water is easily found at your local Middle Eastern or Indian market. However, in the case you don't have either in your area, then Amazon is another quick option. Here's a quick link: Amazon - Rose water

  2. Sumac. Same story as with the Rose water. Here's an amazon link just in case:

Amazon - Sumac

3. Simple syrup is incredibly easy todo, hence the name. Simple mix equal parts sugar and water, I use one cup sugar to 1 cup water, and dissolve in a sauce pan, over medium low heat. Then set aside to chill and refrigerate until you need to make some more.

No what

  • Cut lemon into wedges

  • In a small bowl mix Sumac and sugar until fully combined. Then transfer to a flat plate

  • Wet the rim of the coup glass using the lemon wedge

  • Then gently roll the coup glass rim in the Sumac and sugar mix. The entire rim doesn't have to be coated with the mix, half to three quarters will do just fine.

  • Then Fill in a mixing glass with ice half way through.

  • Then add the Vodka, Triple sec, Lemon juice and Simple syrup.

  • Transfer to a shaker and shale well for 15-20 sec. Shaking is important as it aerates the liquids in the shaker.

  • Using a strainer, strain the liquids into the coup glass

  • Carefully add a couple of Rose water drops. Be careful not to add too much, as Rose water is incredibly potent, and will easily take over the drink making it unpleasant.

  • Garnish with a Rose petal.

Happy Valentines Day
